Saturday LTR (1.3.26)

Welcome to 2026, team!

I hope your year is starting out well!

We will meet at 8:30am tomorrow morning in the Liverpool Middle School parking lot (HERE! off the intersection of 7th
& Hickory St. in Liverpool) for
our long training run. When I checked
the weather earlier, the real feel temperature was going to be around 10
degrees with the snow shifting away by the start of our run.

While it’s going to be chilly, it is not the coldest
we’ve run in before (if you joined us for Thursday’s bRUNch at George’s,
it was colder!). Although we might be clear of flurries, the roads in the
village may be slushy, so plan your wardrobe accordingly to accommodate these conditions,
layering with a sweat wicking base layer and making sure to cover your ears,
along with running in shoes with good traction (maybe trail shoes if you have
them). Also, be mindful of taking smaller steps and shortening your stride (not
shuffling your feet) in order to keep your feet under your body.

In the event we need to cancel or delay tomorrow’s run, I will email and post in our Facebook group tomorrow, by 7am. Honestly, if you’re training for Syracuse Half or Tipp Hill, it’s good to
run in these colder, messy conditions as you never know what the weather will
be like on Race Day!

I have linked a 3-mile route below. While those of us
running Syracuse Half have 6-7 miles tomorrow, this 3-mile route can be run
twice but also gives us the option to bail early in the event it’s too cold.

Saturday (1/10): Location TBD (depending
on weather) at 8:30am for our long training run.

With
the beginning of a new year, many of us feel motivated to restart healthy
habits, often in the form of dietary changes. While it's wonderful to focus on
nutrition, please remember that
as athletes in training, your body has specific fueling
needs.
Carbohydrates
and protein are essential to power your workouts and support muscle recovery
afterward.
Rather than focusing on cutting calories, prioritize eating
enough of the right foods to support your training goals
. Along with taking in
these essential nutrients (carbohydrates and protein), please make sure you are
properly hydrating this evening ahead of tomorrow’s run!

I
cannot wait to see you tomorrow morning at 8:30 at the middle school complex.

Have a
great evening!
