HOH LTR (5.30.26)

Hey Hey- Happy Friday!

 

Who’s ready for the weekend!

 

We will be meeting in the LMS Complex parking lot at 8:15am tomorrow morning to start
our warm-ups before heading out for our long runs. It looks like we may have
some fairly decent weather, too! While there may be some wind gusts, the real
feel temperatures appear to be in the mid-40’s with a bit of humidity. Dress
accordingly, keeping in mind that your body will heat up at least 15-20 degrees
during exercise.

 

We will be planning for the following
distances:

 

4 miles: low-end base/maintenance build

6 miles: high-end base/maintenance build

8 miles: Wineglass Marathon (although we have 10 on the schedule, we’ll
shoot for 8 and see how everyone feels before determining additional mileage)

 

You can find routes with turn-by-turn
directions below, along with two links to each route- the second being to
Garmin Connect where provided your Garmin watch is capable, you can download
the route to your watch for GPS guidance. As usual, these routes piggy-back off
one another, circling back to the parking lot between each.

After completing the 6 mile route:

From parking lot follow bus path to
Hickory
(L) on Hickory to 6th
(R) on 6th (cross Oswego & Tulip) to Tamarack
(R) on Tamarack to 4th
(R) on 4th (cross Tulip, and Oswego) to Hickory
(R) on Hickory to bus path into parking lot

 

You
all know the drill
! Show up well rested, hydrated, and fueled with the appropriate
nutrients
(carbs and proteins). Even though we will be circling back to
our cars (for very brief stops) between loops, you should plan to carry
hydration (preferably with electrolytes) and more than enough nutrition to fuel your entire run. A
good rule of thumb is to fuel
10-15 minutes prior
to starting the run, and then again, every 35-40 minutes (or approximately every 3-4 miles). Do not wait until you feel hungry
or empty to take more nutrition!
At that point, it’s too late
and you’ll spend the remainder of your run trying to “catch up” on fueling your
body. The idea is to fuel before you feel like you need it, allowing your body
to use energy consistently which helps to keep you feeling good (as good as
long runs can feel!) for your entire run!

Saturday
(6/6):
Since so many of us are running Paige’s Butterfly Run, there will be NO OFFICIAL GROUP RUN

Tuesday
(6/9):
NO
OFFICIAL GROUP MEETUP
(due to Workforce Run)- a workout can be provided to those who wish to
run it on their own.
